Salmon

Salmon are big up here, not in the literal sense, but in the importance sense. They're a huge industry and part of the economy and, in many areas of the state, are a staple part of the diet (particularly in bush Alaska where store-bought food is 4-5 times as expensive as it is in lower 48 stores).

Dunno. I just got a kick out of the idea of a whole conference being dedicated to salmon fishery recovery.
