Alaska is cold
It's been below zero for over a week now, with temperatures generally hovering around -10 to -15 at the house. When we woke up this morning, Dan discovered (while in the shower) that the water pressure was really low. Thankfully he was able to wash off all the soap before the water cut off completely, but the investigation into the source of the problem revealed that the pipe from the well to the house was probably frozen.
I lucked out and found a thawing guy from the valley who happened to be coming to Anchorage to drop his daughter off at a sleepover. So he's outside right now working on the pipe. Hopefully we'll have water soon.
(On a related note, we're also pretty sure that the radiator loop for the basement is frozen too. Maybe he'll be able to thaw that while he's here.)
Yes, Alaska is cold.
